FinancialCost Accounting/Systems Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY:
Perform duties required to maintain, monitor, and enhance the financial reporting systems. Maintain the user security within each of the accounting systems and verify the accuracy of the data coming out of these systems. Develop reporting capabilities and provide information to management. Manage the systems aspect of the annual budget process and coordinate with all St. Louis and Plant Personnel involved in the budgeting process.

Perform duties to insure adequate controls are in place regarding the company’s inventory and fixed assets. Coordinate the cost accounting functions of the company as they relate to inventory and all aspects of the manufacturing operations. Examine, analyze, and interpret accounting records for management. Prepare detailed analysis of all manufacturing variance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

  1. Monitor the daily activity processing thru the Glovia System by reviewing the daily FIM activity, correcting any errors, and positing data to the General Ledger.
  2. Initiate the electronic transfer of data to the Cognos Financial Software and insure the data balances to the General Ledger (Glovia).
  3. Audit, monitor, and maintain the various security levels and user access in each of the systems to maintain confidentiality of the data.
  4. Verify the accounting data coming out of Cognos Finance is accurate and timely.
  5. Assist and train individuals using the various systems and troubleshoot/resolve problems, working with Information Systems staff as needed.
  6. Make changes to existing reports to meet changing requirements in the reporting process as they are defined by management.
  7. Develop new reports as necessary to improve the reporting process and help streamline the closing process.
  8. Insure the timely and accurate dissemination of financial statements to management.
  9. Manage the technical aspects of the annual budgeting process insuring that all software is working properly and adequate user controls are in place. Coordinate this process with all St. Louis and Plant personnel involved in the budgeting process.
  10. Maintain the Best Fixed Asset System to insure that all company assets are added into the system and depreciated based on current IRS guideline.
  11. Maintain all aspects of the company’s Simplified LIFO Calculation including the monthly valuation of inventory at both FIFO and LIFO which requires the updating of the Producer’s Price Index published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
  12. Provide management with reports and graphs that track inventory trends and project calculated work-in-process valuation.
  13. Participate in the design, development, and implementation of policies and procedures for all aspects of the company’s financial operations with specific emphasis on cost control procedures.
  14. Assist with the annual physical inventory process.
  15. Monitor cycle count programs and their results.
  16. Manage the write off and disposition of inventory against the slow moving and obsolete reserve.
  17. Prepare detailed analysis of manufacturing variances for management review.
  18. Provide outside auditors with schedules pertaining to inventory and fixed assets.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education/Knowledge: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

Experience: Four to six years experience in an accounting related position, including familiarity with a standard cost system and management reporting. Must also have work experience related to the design and implementation of accounting information systems and software. Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, but not required.

Skills: Good communication, analytical, detail orientation and problem-solving sills. Good teamwork skills with experience in addressing issues involving multiple disciplines (information technology, manufacturing, purchasing, etc.)

FinancialAccounting Assistant - AR

Nature and Scope of Position:

Maintain all receivable systems for all entities. To generate invoices and/or approve and post invoices created by other departments, to perform write-off of receivable amounts as needed, issue credit memos as needed, reconcile month-end agings and generate statements for collection of past due invoices. Process receivable related payments, section dues deposits, and other miscellaneous deposits and related cash management entries as needed for all entities. Responsible for processing and depositing of contributions received. Import, reconcile and update all lockbox deposits. Responsible for portion of Congress hotline calls and resolution of emails. Assist with setup, teardown, nightly balancing and closing onsite at convention meetings. Assist, as needed, with training of registration staff. Review, audit and approve travel related expense reimbursements.  Audit, allocate and process for payment airline travel invoice. Voucher and pay monthly credit card merchant fees manually. Serve as liasion and trainer for staff. Reconcile month end clearing accounts and prepare invoices for personal charges. Assist with processing of payables functions as needed. Assist with Member Records processes and functions as needed. Administrative functions as needed.

Desirable Experience: Position holder must have strong receivables, payables and general ledger experience. Strong accounting skills are necessary. Strong word and excel skills are necessary.

Knowledge and Skills Required: Bachelor's degree (BA), Associate's degree (AA) or one or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Essential to the position are strong data entry skills, the ability to use the ten-key touch calculator, the PC, Excel, and Word (Windows). Outlook and power point experience is also desired. The ability to meet deadlines and to work under stress is also essential. May require some travel for Congress or for training.

Complete reconciliation accurately and timely including proper support for each period. Analyze account activities to ensure the activity is accounted for correctly.
Research any reconciling differences with the GL accounts.
Analyze the results of each closing period.
Complete required analytical or disclosure requirements for External Auditors
Maintain and enhance closing process including reconciliations.
Keep informed on changing accounting practices.
Complete control activities related to internal controls to meet the requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley Regulation.

Knowledge/Experience Requirements
